Looks like Japan bound for a few days, and quite a few flight options. AY via HEL appears quite appealing with single seat Business Class layout available on their A330 flights. Never flown JAL, and they offer a 787 service, also ex HEL. Price in simlar fashion to AY. Then for a bit more money (obviously!) there is BA. No doubt an 8 abreast 777 ex LHR. All flights will originate from MAD.

I see that the avios offering for the long haul with AY is just under 7K each way for the long haul. That seems bit mean...11K for JAL and 16K or near as with BA.

It is possible ofcourse to mix the carriers. Any thoughts? Also can anyone see any problem of booking this via Expedia? Reason for asking is that the JAL 787 service is not showing via BA.COM or Iberia but does on expedia.
