We're in Tokyo for 7 nights... and 4 more weeks covering the rest of Honshu - or most of it anyway! We have kaiseki, kappo, omakase, izakaya, tempura, tofu, crab, unagi, tonkatsu, soba, ramen, donburi, honmachi, teppanyaki, okonomiyaki, kushiage, sukiyaki, shabu shabu, yakitori, bento, and many other meals planned inbetween.
I don't consider 2-3 sushi meals in Tokyo overkill considering the length of our trip, the relatively poor quality of sushi in Northern California, and the fact that we'll be in a city with arguably the best sushi offerings in the world. We actually won't be eating sushi all that much elsewhere. I think we possibly have one or two other spots on our radar in other prefectures, but we'll be splitting up our stay in Tokyo with several nights in Hakone so the meals won't be so concentrated. I'm interested to compare the different styles... and just to indulge!
