That is true if you are applying for the same version of the card, you only get points once. In this case he is asking if you get points for different versions of the UA card. I have had these:

MP Explorer
MP Select
MP Club
MP Presidential Plat
MP Business

plus multiple versions of the Continental cards from Chase and then they morphed into UA MP miles. Sign up bonus each time.
