The one hour connection time in YUL makes me nervous considering so many delays at ORD. What would you do? Would I have any more peace of mind taking the longer itinerary? Thanks.
Why would you put yourself through either of these options? Having to pick up luggage in YYZ would be a real pain and the 1:18 time is not a lot in case you're late.
I don't know if there is intl-intl transfer at YUL where you would not have to get your luggage, but certainly in either event you would have to clear Canadian customs.
