I don't disagree; this is focused solely on LAX-SFO, a market that UA commands no matter which way you look at it. Los Angeles-Bay Area is a totally different story: WN cannot crack UA's dominance in LAX-SFO despite leading in most other "secondary" markets; and UA recently abandoned LAX-SJC. It really goes to show how difficult it is to overtake the market leader on, I venture to say, most domestic airline routes today.

UA offers the most seats in the market by far, so even with a 81.3% LF, UA flew 66,695 empty seats. WN by comparison had 60,015. I just thought it's a helpful fact for those who prefer an alternative spin on things.
