Did you travel on Etihad metal or Air Berlin metal? Was your frequent flyer account linked to your ticket, in other words, did your boarding pass mention your EY guest number? Did you actually try to access the lounge or only asked at check-in and took no for an answer there?
Hi Janrubel thanks for your participation in the thread, I flew on EY metal using EY FFP. Was able to check in using EY J Class counter at Munich. I actually asked for lounge access at counter telling them I'm a gold member and they politely said only Business/First Class passengers were able to use the lounge. I told them I usually get access to any of Etihad's lounges being a gold member but the head supervisor at the counter, but I was still refused entry. So I took no for an answer.

Upon completing my flight I contacted Etihad through twitter asking specifically about the denied lounge access at Munich for EY Golds, which Etihad replied I can only use EY's very own lounges.

Load factor on the flight was very light - about 80 pax in total when I asked the crew. Anyway, it seems that I'm the only one denied access in Munich. I'll be travelling again with Etihad in the next few days from Kuala Lumpur so I'll be reporting it back here.
