I have no reason to doubt you, but, I seem to think I remember them NOT wanting to count mechanicals, with the thought that if they did, it could lead to airlines possibly slacking off with maintenance at times, if it would cause a late arrival. Maybe it changed at some point?

For a flight being 1:12 late? I'd be surprised if they would do that, unless the OP is a HVC.
