I got a call this morning from a company offering Identity Theft Protection which is a buy-in option offered with my RBC Avion Visa. (ITP is not worth it)

Before "the salesman" was finished with his opening lines, he ended by saying that this id theft protection was offered by Aimia on behalf of RBC.

I replied: Aimia on behalf of RBC eh. Can I earn Aeroplan miles with this transaction? hehe

The "salesman" would not confirm over the phone that Aimia was affiliated with Aeroplan.


I wonder if it was an Aeroplan agent making the phone calls?

I know that Aimia is a company that runs more then just Aeroplan, but I found it odd that RBC would hire them to sell services for the Avion credit card.
