I ran into an I-94 issue a couple years ago, when the customs officer refused to stamp my correctly filled out form because I was Canadian and he didn't think I needed it.. even though he'd just stamped my J-1 form. Idiot. Anyway, I would have had to go to a deferred inspection site, but I was lucky enough that the college I was at had officers come on campus to deal with the various immigration issues their international students had. Maybe a large DFW company does the same?
