Here's the issue as I see it. You were at best being deceitful to the gate agent. You asked if you had time to go to the bathroom and get a bite to eat. I've flown many times out of LAS on AA, and the gates and food/restrooms are a mere 30 second walk away, and you can absolutely hear if being paged. You decided to fully leave the area and walk 3-5 minutes away to go to a lounge, when at best case you would have had "just" 10 minutes in the lounge.

You didnt go to the restroom and get a bite to eat anywhere near the gate, and you should absolutely feel blessed they let you on that flight.
