re i): mixed experience. unfortunately probably unlikely as they are AA flights and you are looking for BA credit. If you were crediting AA, I believe they are better with ORC but less so with other FF programmes. Is the ticket issued by BA (125) or AA?

ii) nothing to loose in asking.
