Have been struggling with ITA matrix, and hoping for some explanation.

I have to do a trip to Singapore in October, and would like to use it to maximise tier points. Would like cost about £2,500 or below, leaving EDI or GLA. I only need to be in Singapore one day, so arrive Wed, overnight, stay Thu, leave Friday (or midnight / v.late flight of Thu or Fri morning).

So far best option I could see is EDI-LHR-DOH-SIN-DOH-LHR-EDI all in Business-I class, for £2,200 or thereabouts. First question is whether there is a better option, and secondly, if so, how do I find it using ITA? I've been playing with all the codes, but it looks like shooting in the dark (try something, see how are fares, try something else). I think I haven't got my head around the logic of it yet!
