You need the JL locator which can be found through classic.checkmytrip.com.
Then use the "View My Reservations" section here and will be able to select seats from 2 months prior to the flight: http://www.ar.jal.com/arl/en/

However for better seat selection including exit row allocation you will need to call JL.
