I'm in the same position (except April rather than January). I took 2A/K each way. I can't recall the last time I flew that route and the plane wasn't rammed to the lockers. I'd be amazed if the front cabin were to be shut.

My concern is whether I'd find that the OF seat was broken, and didn't recline. But otherwise, it is much more comfortable (IMO), and you will disembark and board quicker at YVR.
