I have booked the flights as everyone advised:

AKL-NAN: Seat + Bag, seats in PE confirmed
NAN-AKL: Seat Only, upgrades to BP requested using SH RU and AP for all three pax

Since the BP upgrades haven't come through, I assume that they probably won't until we get to the airport. Since these are standby upgrades, I assume that we'd still be granted BP checked luggage allowance even if we don't end up getting upgraded (a la normal int LH flights)? Or should I upgrade the fare to Seat + Bag if the upgrades aren't confirmed the day before we fly? Thanks!
