Just because an airline is part of an alliance doesn't mean that it needs to include a revenue component instituted by another member of the alliance. AS can set its MP elite terms as it wishes.

UA and DL both force you spend a minimum amount of $$ to get any elite status in their programs (which are clones of each other as far as the revenue component goes) so there was no way I was going to increase my spending by $1000 or more just to get the same status and no real increase in benefits whereas on AS, I don't have to increase my spending for MVP (actually going to probably get MVPG this year for the same or less than what would have gotten me only Silver on UA).

AA platinum = UA gold and DL gold. It's the 50k level.
Even though UA offered platinum, UA's operations are terrible right now, and I would avoid it. I am on the verge of jumping ship to AS.
