There you go, you're a J flyer with AC status, of course AC will seem perfectly adequate.
I don't think anyone saying that service is an ”issue" with AC. It is what it is, and changes with every flight. And is all based on personal opinions.
But let's not kid ourselves by pretending AC is anything more than mediocre on a global scale.
As an experiment, get yourself on an AC flight in Y without status, then compare
