Question:

I have a Briggs & Riley upright carry-on (one of the expander ones) purchased back in 2009 that met the requirements. I can't locate the model number at this time, but I believe it is roughly 23 x 9½ x 15½(ish). I have to find the receipt later. The 23" height includes wheels and top handle. The side handle sticks out too much where it creates that extra ½" width.

I figured I had to get a new bag, and went online to search for the models in the "bags that fit carry-on sizer" wiki. I noticed on the wiki list the TU220XW was on the list. The B&R site says that model is 21.5" x 15.5" x 8.5" . I was under the impression that since the width is over 15" then it would have to be checked?

Should I still consider purchasing a new bag to avoid any hassles with United? We fly out of IAD and visit MCO on a yearly basis. Considering an international flight next calendar year.
