Leaving the KLM Lounge approximately 1 hour +/- before departure time, works for me with regard to long-haul flights ex-AMS.
But, I'm not a huge fan of getting on the plane early (or waiting for security screening).
Not sure if it's common on KLM, but when I flew AMS/LHR a couple weeks ago there wasn't even a PDB service so it definitely to pay to be on the plane early that flight. I wish they would have at least had bottled water on the seats since you can't bring it from the concourse onto the plane due to the gate security.
