My goal, is to arrive (at gate security) just about when they are starting to board. By then, almost everyone has gone through the gate-security; and there is hardly a wait (or line) for security.
Leaving the KLM Lounge approximately 1 hour +/- before departure time, works for me with regard to long-haul flights ex-AMS.
But, I'm not a huge fan of getting on the plane early (or waiting for security screening).
