BA is trying to grow the CMB route and MLE can fill in CW without any awards being allowed. It seems fairly straightforward to me. I would go with QR or fly to DXB and buy a J ticket to and from MLE with UL (you could redeem too but buying is cheap).

I would prefer not to fly on the BA direct flight given the new timings and the lack of F.
