When BA lost my bags last year on the outbound I had them authorise a complete set of business clothes - shirt, suit, shoes, underwear, plus a suitcase to keep it all in. In the end my bag turned up just in time, and all I needed to buy was leisure clothes. But even that wasn't cheap (and in all more than $125) - if you are in a strange city, you probably don't know where the cheap places are, nor do you always have the time.

I had never been to London before. I went to the shops I was used to buying from and repurchased the same clothing in my bag.

The form to file a claim online is long and some parts don't make complete sense. In addition the agents I called were not helpful at all in filling out the form, but I managed to do so.

I'll just have to wait and see.
