As with the "how many people until it's likely 2 have the same birthday", the probabilities are much higher then many would think. 41% sticks in my head.
With the birthday thing, it depends on the number of people being sampled.. 23 ppl yields a 50% chance, 75 ppl and it's at over 99%.
Two aircraft accidents' odds would also depend, I would think on the number of flights operating and also the chance of an accident of this nature.
It is an odd and sad coincidence.
