What did the immigration officers do/ask? Just looked at your passport? Thailand I could understand, but would be surprised if Japan (fingerprints required) and Viet Nam (visa required) were normally that casual.

I can't speak to 5khours' experience, but some economies do take a dim view of people using the ABTC card for leisure travel (because the framework specifies it is for business travel only) so it would be advisable to check business.
