Since you now have to get a temporary chipkaart even for the AMS-centraal run, at a cost of eur1 each time, I decided to get an anonymous chipkaart for trams around town and the train back to the airport.

I only put a small amount of credit on the card, so I think I had about eur 6 on there which I thought was fine for the eur 4 ride back to AMS. However, there was some beeping and flashing as I checked in/out, and I couldn't read the Dutch information on the teeny screen - is there a minimum credit that I need on the card for this journey?
