Honestly, despite Voip.ms having a rather intimidating interface, it's quite easy to set up the forwards, and once they're established, it's much easier to change the forwarding number (just select the different destination) than it is on other services where you have to type in the number every time.

Once you've bought your DID, 6 steps to configure your first forward, and I promise it's not all that scary. Then later on, when you want to change it, only the last step is needed.

1. Go to DID Numbers --> Call Forwarding.

2. Click Add Forwarding.

3. Enter the number you want to forward to. Add a description if you want, to help you identify it easily in the menus. Save. (Repeat #2 and #3 as necessary if you have multiple possible forwarding destinations.)

4. Go to DID Numbers --> Manage DID(s).

5. Click the edit button next to the DID you want to forward.

--- Here, I suggest bookmarking the page, as when you need to change between your forwarding numbers in the future, you start at step 6. ---

6. Choose Call Forwarding, and select the forwarding entry you want to use.

IMO, being able to quickly change to a different forward is much easier than having to type in the number all the time when I want to change between my forwarding destinations.

Once you get used to the idea of creating your actions (i.e. forwarding) first, then applying those actions to a DID, Voip.ms starts to feel quite easy.

You can go as simple or as crazy as you want. Voip.ms can also do SMS forwarding, and also does voicemail should you want that. You can create groups, so it will simultaneously ring multiple phones until someone picks up. Etc...
