Each sleeping car has a shower for the use of the occupants of that car. I never had to wait to use it. It's on a timer, somewhat like some public swimming pool showers, as there is only a limited amount of water than can be carried on the train. Push the button for water and it runs for a bit and shuts off. Push again to repeat the cycle.

Via used to have the menus on the web, but don't seem to anymore. I'd consider the food quite superior to BA's long haul J meals for instance, and probably better than F, but not quite as fancy. It's all cooked fresh on board, not reheated. Wine selection is more limited because they only carry Canadian wines.
