I recommend packing any cables or loose electronic widget accessories in a small bag and pulling it out seperately for screening. Amenity kit bags are good for this, so are the smallest luggage organiser bags. I put all my laptop charger, cables, connectors, adapters, etc, etc into a separate bag and since I started to take it out, my rate of secondary search has fallen to almost zero.
agree with that and we do the same. I was stopped at LHR with a rechargeable toothbrush and its charger some time ago.
The security guy asked me what was in the bag and as I have my bags pre-packed several weeks, if not more, in advance, I couldnt remember all the items and it was darn early in the morning.
Anyway instead of opening the bag, they kept looking at it in the xray and then he said they may have to call the police. Yup, that's what he said.
Apparently he was new (one of his colleagues told me after the event when she apologised for his demeanour - eventually they opened the bag!).
So ever since then, all cables chargers batteries etc etc are carried in a bag with the bag of liquids and all go through separately.
