Looks like fold-down rear seats are also just an option on the E-220, so accessing the trunk from the interior might still be a challenge.
Remote trunk release would take care of that (at least if the car thought it was unlocked) but you'd have to be able to get into the car in the first place.
Generally if the doors are unlocked, so is the trunk so it'd be unlikely to be any practical use.
