This is a little controversial slash crazy, but what about business class on Hainan airlines to Beijing (PEK)? It's typically only a couple hundred more than the Y fare on AC. And then you can book another flight from PEK to HKG (only 4 hours or so).

EDIT: Nevermind, it seems that times have changed from 2 years ago when their business class product was a LOT cheaper.
