I have taken the LAX/KOA flight many times. It is an old 757 and yes it lacks many amenities which one would normally find in FC, but the FA's are always great on this flight. The flight is quite pleasant and not a terribly long ride (about the same as JFK/LAX). Landing on the big Island is always a treat. Love that sweet little airport.
