My current trip has me transiting ADD en route to CPT. My transit time in ADD is ~<3hr. My understanding is that even with such a short transit time at ADD - I will still need yellow fever vaccine as I may be enquired to show proof of vaccination. I will also need a transit visa for ADD - which appears it can be had at time of arrival for a fee.

I am not very excited about transiting ADD if it means I have to get a yellow fever vaccine. I have some relatives that insist various autoimmune disorders (Crohn's and MS, among others) were triggered after receiving an influx of travel vaccines. I have the option of flying Egypt Air through Cairo instead of Ethiopian through ADD, and I could make that switch if it makes sense (though I've heard pretty bad things about Egypt Air, though only marginally better things about ET).

What is everyone's experience here with Yellow Fever vaccine when transiting ADD en route to JNB/CPT? Has anyone had negative experiences (sickness, flu-like symptoms, etc) after receiving the vaccine? I know this sounds paranoid - just trying to gain some insight.

The (current) full itin is as follows:

SAN-YZZ-MUC-LHR (stop)
LHR-ADD-JNB-CPT (dest)
PLZ-JNB-IST-IAH-SAN

Thanks in advance for any opinions / suggestions / insights!
So is a yellow fever vaccination required for travelers transiting ADD to CPT?
