Otherwise how does the OP know they were drinking that much simply because it was free? If they had been drinking on the layover at a bar, they were paying for their drinks & for all the OP knows would have paid for them in E if they hadn't upgraded to F.
The FA should have shut them down much sooner by not serving them and/or telling them if they continued to be rowdy they would be cut off, so the OP should be po'd that it took the FA so long to rein them in.
I also agree with someone else that this really wasn't about the drinking per se (although it helped), but the noise level. If someone downs a bottle of booze & is quiet, would the OP be complaining?
FWIW - I'd be po'd at the noise level too, so I'm not dissing the OP but still questioning that it was about the booze being free.

Sharon, I have no issues with people having a drink or few on the plane when in First Class. I have even less of a problem with those experiencing First Class service for the first time. I know these guys were drinking in the bar because 1) I saw them when I got my coffee. The coffee shop was next door. These guys were very loud at the bar. 2) Other passengers in F who were also annoyed by their behavior mentioned that after the flight.
There is having a good time and there is over the top social behavior in a tight and confined space. How do people like someone on a cell phone making a call and speaking in a very loud voice pre or post departure. I'm not against people drinking but that gives them no excuses to disregard others because they cannot hold their alcohol in. Also, did I mention that very obscene note found in the restroom where one of these fellas suggested that another one of these fellas [
edited by Moderator per FT. Rules]. This note was left there on purpose. What ended their drinking was one of the drunk idiots started to become grabby with one of the FAs. Nice touch of class and civility.
