EWR is a United hub. United is being stupid with their revenue management (they decided the reason they were losing money is because they were selling too many cheap seats in advance, so they raised their prices massively on many routes, see multiple threads on the UA board about it), also less flights from airlines other than UA at EWR, so there you are.
