LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -
Allegiant Air said its computer system was restored Friday afternoon after an outage earlier in the day forced at least 26 flights to cancel or be rescheduled.
According to the carrier, the system was restored at 1 p.m. Allegiant spokesperson Micah Lillard said the outage began about 5:30 a.m.
The technical difficulties forced Allegiant to cancel eight flights while rescheduling 18 others to Saturday. A total of 250 flights were scheduled Friday. The outage affected about 4,000 passengers.
McCarran International Airport, which is a hub for Allegiant, showed delays earlier in the day for flights as far east as Springfield, MO and as far west as Honolulu. In addition, travelers at the Las Vegas airport were met with long waits to check in at the Allegiant counter.
McCarran's Twitter feed explained lines were moving, but the outage created a backlog for check-ins.
