Expensive beers are getting more and more common. Though if you look at the list of "most expensive" it's really ridiculous. No one wants to drink a beer that's 57% ABV. (Ratebeer gives the Schorschbräu Schorschbock 57% a horrible rating, though it's suspect since there are 29 rates for a beer whose entire production run was 36 bottles.)
