I flew LAX-HKG the week after the lost Malaysian Airlines flight. My husband likes to track me on flightaware and had a moment of white-knuckling when my flight "disappeared" from flightaware near the Bering Strait - it reappeared eventually. I don't know if flightaware "connects the dots" from last position "tracked" to first position "reappearing" or if there's just a lag in data transmission and it fills in the actual path, but now I'm curious!
