Check your facts. The FAA prohibited flights over Crimea due to concerns about air traffic control (not military). MH and those dastardly European airlines would have flown the same route even if they were following the FAA directive. It appears DL was flying over Ukraine itself (if reports here are accurate, I haven't checked myself).
Correct. the FAA NOTAM covered only Crimea.
