I was just upgraded to Diamond. Do the "estandby" options change for Gold vs. Diamond? Is there any way for me to see my selections are "reselect" based on the higher status? I tried to resend the confirmation e-mail but the link to do that appears to have disappeared from the reservations page.
Would it make sense to cancel and rebook reservations so that my status is clear on the reservation, or is that irrelevant?
I don't mean to sound like a DYKWIA - just trying to understand the Hilton systems! Thanks!
No, initial booking/reservation the Custom Upgrade starts off +1 for both Golds/Diamonds. It is likely that only in last 48hours before checkin that you will see the real provisional upgrade in your reservation. AND if hotel is sold out, I often see a further room type boost in my account 8am on day of checkin.
Hotels hold out hoping for people to tick a NOR1 upgrade , but if no one does, hilton hotel has to upgrade as hotels oversell Guest/Deluxe/Exec rooms as some income is better than none and the expensive top suites are rarely paid bookings, I have had Royal and Presidential suite upgrades at full hotels on morning of my checkin.
As a normal example if lowest three room types are
King Guest
King Deluxe
King Exec
And one books a basic King Guest, then clicking to look at "Show My Custom Upgrade" will show for both HH-G/HH_D elites King Deluxe Upgrade for 0usd/gbp/euro ticked and paid options of nor1 upgrades to Exec, J/Suite and upwards
Then two days before checkin one often sees new set as upgraded to King Exec, and now Custom Upgrade starts from new Exec room so extra for J/suite is far smaller and is the time I tick the Custom Upgrade box.
