That's despite a lot of irrops that could have resulted in downgrade.

I have had 1 in the last year (one and the only one happened while GGL, which almost made me giggle at the irony) but that was due to irrops when I was not able to accept a later flight in CE due to having another flight to catch later on.

Of course, if you REALLY want to avoid being downgraded, flying Y would be a good option

Booking a special mean to prevent a downgrade is so not worth it IMO.
