I have a guaranteed reservation with Europcar in Germany that starts in 2 hours. Just had a call from the local office to say that they only have larger cars, so I can either cancel or pay more.
This seems wrong, but the gentleman I'm dealing with is being quite insistent.
I think they need to give me the car they do have for the "guaranteed price' shown in my online reservation.
I've also tried Tweeting Europcar but no response yet. Any input anyone?
I would go to the branch where you are picking up the car and take the upgrade ,which they will charge you for and complain at customer services keeping a copy of your booking saying you didn't want the upgrade as they were no cars available...
That will make it clear that you did not get the car you booked and they didn't have any there.
It is a trick designed to get you to upgrade by paying them as it put you in a awkward position...
