The gates - or at least the ones I used - have inspection facilities, but these were not being used. The gate I walked through entering beeped furiously, but not an elegant eyebrow was raised among the agents waiting to inspect my boarding pass.
So I'm guessing the bottle of water will be safe - but don't let that spoil the thrill of your adrenalin rush
