Moto G LTE is a good choice. Another one would be to buy a used Nexus 4. It is a higher performance phone except for LTE (not officially supported, and only capable of one band), and I think battery life is not quite as good. You also don't get as much storage, but a travel phone probably should not have much stuff stored on it anyway. US Supreme Court recently ruled search warrant needed to look into cell phones, that's not true everywhere in the world.
Used Nexus 4 8GB phones can be had for around 120 USD on the big auction site. With a new battery (~20 dollars including tools for DIY replacement) it would be a very good travel phone.
