Sorry, but I fail to see that is such a problem.... And for me none at all since I never spend more points than I have.

But if you cannot manage your account in real time (and that I can imagine if you have lots of activity) why not simply go to the GP site and download your (total) account overview to a spreadsheet and voila... You have an overview what you have earned and spend. Quite easy to see if there are any double charges at the same property. And also easy to filter on property or category like awards.

And when booking awards online I always get point deducted at the time of booking. I'm not sure if it's a result of a phone booking that makes a difference, but it's probably not a common thing. Even the few times I contacted a property directly for a points upgrade they charged me for the points immediatly.
