The highlight was the chocolate cake on the side plate with 2 kinds of cheese. This was a first for me on a DL domestic flight and was great! I wonder if this will come into all domestic service or only flights of a certain length.
Had the same sides (cake on side plate with two kinds of cheese - and a little bit of fruit) on LAS-DTW. Salmon salad was an option but I went with a calzone. It wasn't bad and was hot, which was nice. I suspect you can get these meals now on flights over 1500 miles. The lunch/dinner options on shorter flights still is lacking - seems to be a lot of sandwich options or salads with cold chicken, etc.
