There are actually two time share locations in that area. The Phuket Beach Club is more or less attached to the JW. We walked over to JW for pastries, restaurants, large swimming pools, etc. The other location is closer to the main road, but still within walking distance of PBC and JW. It is the Mai Khao Beach Marriott. From pics I've seen, the apartments are very similar to Phuket Beach Club but a bit of a hike to the actual beach, so a slightly cheaper price over all.
Oh.. the Marriott Vacation Club. Yes, I know about that. I had originally booked only two nights here and then I went over to the JW to see what upgrades they might have. I even looked at a room. However, I found that all of the villas there were part of the vacation club, so no villa upgrades.
Came back and booked the last two nights at the Renissance again.
My impression is the the Renissance is actually nicer than its JW neighbor. The JW needs to update its furniture, for one thing. It was worn a bit in the room I saw. Acceptable, but not JW caliber nice. Tripadvisor seems to agree.
