Airlines don't store their elite information in the reservation systems, they will use SSRs in the reservation system to indicate elite status. However, they are actually stored in their own proprietary elite management systems.
US Airways has a batch job that runs once a month to update account information in the US Airways DM database from OAL (other airline) carriers. Since US and AA are still operating separate incompatible systems, there wont be a way around this until they merge the FF program.
Just for personal cusiosity, why is it run once a month? Just seems like a lengthly period when you consider one trip could easily move you from one FF tier to the next.
