Another gem is Otto's Shrunken Head on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. Total dive bar but they have great giant drinks with lots of straws you and your friends can share. Plus okay live music. And, as it's New York, once you stumble out drunk you can't turn around without walking into a pizza joint!
