I know I shouldn't be paying anything for that first checked bag but I don't want to end up in the situation where 9K will try and charge me for the bag not recognizing my MP status. Is this just a bug on the itinerary or should I bring a print out of my status and the bag few waiver benefit?
1) Cape isn't giving the money to UA.
2) Cape doesn't care about your UA status.
However the DOT's rules madating the same baggage allowances and fees must apply throughout a passenger's journey may help you out here. I'd suggest reading them in detail.
