I am one night stay away from hotels.com welcome rewards status

Is gold status really worth it? It doesn't seem to offer anything over silver status? Is the service really better or are they more wiling to wave cancellation fees etc? Wondering if its even worth it? I can't see a single benefit to gold over silver? It does take 30 stays a year to get so its pretty restrictive, i would hope you get something worth it? I currently have 29 stays for the year.
